So the tank lights are off now and right now it's just the skeleton and the pink buds of the frogspawn. From what you said this is normal right?

Yeah I hear ya that's plenty of flow for a 55 and I'm pretty sure hammers don't like a lot of flow.
That is alot of flow for a 55 gallon....but from what I've heard you can never have too much flow just too much in one area.
