    ph adjusted means it must have something other than calcium hydroxide, right? If it's a softener, maybe it has sodium carbonate added?

    Look for Nylon "Tulle" (pronounced same as 'tool') in a fabric store. It's nylon and is a good sized mesh that won't restrict flow.
