I run my T-5 lights for 9.5 hours per day. So, you may want to shorten your cycle a little. However, something has to be out of whack to get algae...

T-5 and don't look back. I have PC lights for my 20 gallon, and although they are adequate for that tank (FOWLR), I would still recommend T-5...

Welcome to 3reef. The Royal Gramma is a carnivore, so it won't do anything for algae control. But, it's a wonderful fish (one of my favorites)....

I wouldn't keep anything requiring more than medium light (at 12 inches of depth or less), or polyps and mushrooms below that. And no SPS at all. PCs...
