    That is what I thought I still have some mercury thermometers but they are really old. I don't use them but to look at.

    Picture is blurry but never seen cyano as purple as that. It has always been red it the cases that I have seen. Clearer pic will tell for sure.

    red on right is not cyano it is some sort of velvet red algae. Ok book says peysonnelia sp. but yours don't look as velvety

    cyano is alway in the system. Just cause hemit crab had some on it don't mean it wouldn't have come around later or sooner.
