if the coral is living it will not, i would use bone cutters, if cut a dead skeleton they are very brittle and will snap in half.
i hear also if you make a cut into the monti it creates that overlapping of the skeleton that montis are famous for.
well i would suggest staying away from corals and saving your money for a better fixture! thats the best thing you can do.

i believe to get best coloration its a mix of all the elements to care for them, if you have fantastic water but crap light they wont live.
