Sump looks good. How much LR in the DT? between 1-2 lbs per gallon of water is about what you need based on bioload.

I run mine basically the same way. reverse light cycle is supposed to be good for helping stabalizing PH. Not sure if its true but has seemed to help...
I am sorry about your stuff getting wet, Lot of work cleaning it up. :( I would change it out. Once it gets wet like that it will start to corrode...
It may have just been the back pressure on the skimmer from the sock not letting the water escape fast enough causing it to overflow.
Did the sock plug up?
