I did a screen capture and then cropped my guy in photoshop
How's your aeration/surface agitation?
No, it isn't diatoms if the base of the GREEN algae is brown. I'm trying to identify your algae.
Is the base of the algae brown?
Is it sticking to the glass at all as well? If so, it's probably not byropsis. Its not clumping like byropsis does either. I had something that...
I've yet to see one of my astreas fall over. Even had one with a turbo hanging on it's back and still didn't come unstuck. Don't be scared away...
Doesn't appear to be GHA. My guess would be a somewhat harmless microalgae since it's unable to compete with your coralline.
You'll definitely want a mix. The astreas get into places where the turbos just plain can't. I find the turbos will stick to the glass or rocks...
Well the astreas are pretty good cleaners on their own, but their appetite doesn't come anywhere near the turbos. Look at my sig and that'll show...
Turbos are amazingly fast, but you have to make sure to secure your rockwork. Those things are brutishly strong!
Yah, Bogie posted a link yesterday: http://www.3reef.com/forums/bucket/fight-me-62710.html

LMAO! Yah well last night was a very late night for me ;) Very true, I didn't even think of that. Oy, gotta stop those Friday late night posts....
If I'm going to use a baster, I usually get a small amount of water from the tank, pour it into a cup with Rod's in it, mix/thaw Rod's with the water...
The more patience you have, the easier it is. Welcome to 3reef!
I agree with {Nano} that it doesn't look like apstasia.
Good way to find out is to take it out really quick and take a conservative whiff of it.
[IMG] Actually, they are in the medusa stage. Looks like a hydromedusae called Staurocladia oahuensis. Look it up ;)
I would take it out. I use my CUC for the stuff I can't see.
