Sorry but my sump/refugium is separate... I have a 12 gal nanocube dx with a 10 gallon sump. Everything is in the sump under the stand....

I did that in my sump and it seemed to help, but the main problem with doing that was I got a ton of evaporation and salt creep... I know its a pain...
I've went through the same thing with my nano cube. I ended up doing a sump and it dropped my temp by 4 degrees. I was just like you, the tank...
I have a 12 gal nano dx. I had major temp issues.. Reaching above 84 degrees at times. I did a nanotuners heat shield, it did lower my temp by 2...
