Do you have a deep sand bed? They require very deep - like 4-5 inches. Good luck with everything!! I hope it works out.

Also, what size is your tank? These fish get big and need a lot of space (LA says 180 min.) and they can be quite aggressive.
Yes, looks adult, except the white splotches/lines aren't all the way gone yet. So pretty close to full adult.

I know some people prefer fish closest to wild caught (or wild caught) because there is less breeding of them and less inbreeding, leading to longer...
