    Does sump have to sit below tank?

    Should be below the waterline of the main tank. So it could be beside. If you do something else make sure when the power goes out neither floods.

    What's your Photo Period?

    10-10 for my actinics. Usually I have my MH set for noon to 8. Just got new bulbs so I have 12-6 and will increase slowly back to the 8 pm to go off....

    I don't think they bother corals but not sure about snails. I know a lot of people say they kill small fish and hermits.

    Brain inflating and deflating?

    Sounds normal. I have a wellsophyllia and they're super hardy. Probably the easiest coral.

    I still get some spots in my sump occasional and my NO3 is zero, PO4 usually less than .05 so it can come back in spots with even with good water...
