    As long as there is some water movement I don't think it really matters. Put it somewhere that you can't see it or touch anything living.

    Why the tiny fish?

    One LFS has two blue spotted jawfish that are 7-8 inches and maybe 1-1.5 inches in diameter. Marked not for sale.

    Better to buy fish online or at LFS?

    Blue spotted jawfish for the most part all look the same. Except for size I would say that's a fairly safe fish to buy online.
