    I run my MH some times for 10 hours a day with no heat problem. If you have a sump and some fans your fine.......fans pulling air out of the area...

    ive never seen a tank in person with t5s that has the shimmer unless it has some sort of LED supplement

    MH will give over WAYYYYYYYYYY more shimmer then t5s will......its the difference between night and day with the shimmer effect between MH and t5,...

    yea i am speaking from experience, if you have had metal halides vs t5, u know that what ur seeing is not really a shimmer effect such as a metal...

    You will not get a shimmer from t5 bulbs unless you add some LEDs. I am a MH guy all the way :)what size is your tank?

    i ahve seen it dont but i would not do it for a few reasons. One its not really needed if u have live sand two it can trap debre underthe sand bed...
