Its just a carbon filter mostly designed to remove odors, and not big enough to have any affect on TDS. Probably also time to change the cartridge.
personally I would completely remove the CC, you can mix them but the CC will eventually all get worked back to the top defeating the purpose again.
This is where I get all my sand from, I dont bother rinsing it anymore, it clouds the water either way so I just add it and let it settle. never...
mine never broke suction, but if the level gets about an inch higher than it is in this pic it will begin to slosh, not enough to hurt anything...
mine did that when I added too much top off water, by the next day it stopped as the water level dropped back to it's normal level. I'm guessing it...
