    It looks more like a fireworm, possibly Hermodice sp., but not H. carunculata...note the distinct tuft-like arrangement of the bristles.

    FWIW, from what I could see in the photo, the fish looked a lot like a thornback cowfish (Lactoria fornasini). Sorry you lost it.
