You should be okay with just water changes, but if you are serious about corals you should be testing for cal, alk and mag. These are the big three...
A quick google search I seen that they are rated at 1027 gph, and roughly 700 gph at 5' of head. So that's not too bad of flow through the sump IMO.
I would think that is putting more water through the sump than can be processed before its pumped back to tank. I'm not sure on those pumps head...
Only thing I would watch for is the 10" width, pretty hard for a 12" fish to turn around in 10" lol. Depending on the tang species you want to keep...
I recently went through the same thing. Everything tested usual. Clarifier didn't work either, it eventually went away on its own. Weird.
That tank looks realy neat, I'll def be watching to see what ideas you come up with.
It won't grow algae any faster, but any that does grow will quickly choke out the light so you would need to keep that panel clean to keep the macro...
You got it, I'd say you're well on your way. Be sure to keep us updated on the progress and don't forget the pics
This is a good idea (and where I would start), also lemon juice, joe's juice, aptasia x, all are injectables. There's also kalk paste. Then you could...
You really don't need the old water. There is not much bacterial life in the water column they live on surfaces (the rock, substrate, etc.). So if...
I would think it would be okay, and if you could use a black glass/acrylic divider it should cut down on algae in the rest of the sump! That would be...
I'm about two hours from Ottawa in Belleville, my LFS has brand new 75's for $130 reg, or $235 for drilled with mega flows. A 30 gal is $60 brand...
Zack, there is lots of great info on here if you have some time to look around. You can check out the filtration catagory and also be sure to look at...
Are you thinking strawberry anemone?
What more is there in the tank that you want to get out that can't be removed by the skimmer and water changes? I know that many of the members on...
She just did it again lol
I have the same problem and it's always Corailline that beats me to it lol.::)
I can almost guarentee its a pest anemone, they are very hardy and can be hard to kill.
Look up aptasia and majano. If it's one of those it is a pest anemone and you will want to get rid of it, it will spread and take over the tank fast.
You'll have to scrap it and start over. It doesn't seem like it would make sense, but now we know lol.
