how old is the unit?membrane may need to be replace that's what I did on mine.in fact I changed everything working well now.mine is 7 years old ;D

yea I see mine at night and once in awhile at feeding time.
yes I had the same problem too,I put in some scarlet hermit crabs and phosphate remover and in 2 weeks all gone. and the hermits keep it that way.
