I would ditch the foam and the rigged filter sock. You can burn out a pump pretty quickly if you restrict its intake. Where are the microbubbles...
Must be nice, my tank goes through 1 - 1.5 gallons a day of top off water. That will skyrocket up if I can get this trade worked out for my next...
wait, what?? your saying your 520 watts of PC light probably consume less than 500 watts of halides? so your the guy that thought my single pane...
I wouldn't chance a maxima or a crocea any less than 12" away from PC lighting but thats just me. I agree with horkin, a maxima should do OK around...
:confused: google "DIY BASE ROCK" or make your own thread. To the OP - What kind of play sand are you using? I heard that the general consensus...
. . . sure. also the how tall is the tank and what kind of clam are we talking about. ( 39 x 4 = 156, not 159 ::) ) ~Will.:
Add in the live rock as soon as the dust clears from the sand, some like to put the rock in first then the sand for stability . . . do it however...
Where did you get 39.75w T5 bulbs? I waited 5 months to add a clam and my squamosa is doing great. The kind of clam you want will determine if you...
At this point I really dont think it matters. The tank has only been up for like 6 weeks, might not be a bad idea to take out the live rock and...
The problem with PC's is how the bulbs are configured. That big bend in them makes a lot of their light bounce off itself, and not into your tank....
I was leaning towards anthelia myself, mainly because of how spaced out the polyps are and their color. Only time or a super close up macro shot...
Very true! I forgot they could totally detatch and float away. what I was getting at was they dont like to be on the sand. ~Will.
whats "perfect" . . . got any numbers? What size tank, and again how long has it been setup? I added a RBTA to my tank last week and it only took...
I have never used fixtures, so I'm of no help there. I prefer stuffing retro fit kits into canopies I have built. Just make sure to get one with...
Theres really way too many variables to consider here. You could get a complete 75 reef off craigslist with everything for around $300-$500, or get...
T5 are by far a better option, especially if they are combined with good reflectors. They throw more usable light into your tank with less wattage...
What are your params? What kind of lighting and what are you using for flow? How old is the tank? I would move the one off the sand, they prefer...
Getting a retro into a canopy is a lot easier than it sounds. To mount, you just put a bulb between 2 end caps (to get the right spacing) and...
I would pass on it. The price looks good, but it only has a single reflector and crappy bulbs (and all 10K's??), no-name ballasts, no moon lights,...
Depends on what they look like . . . I would pay a premium for reds, oranges, blues and purple colors, but would only consider the pinks and greens...
