    Not really sure why you boiled the rock. Nitrates are in your water so you should do a water change to reduce nitrates. Maybe too much overfeeding.

    I looked at the seal and it looks fine too me, Its not really an o ring. The seal is built into the diaphragm.

    Skimmer pump acting funny after power loss.

    Happens to me all the time (yesterday). If the blowing does not work just disconnect it and connect it back. Sometimes works with my skimmer.
