i keep fungia, herpolithia, zoas, acans, elegance corals, trachaphyllias, all do great and in nature are found on the sand or right next to sand...

looks like heliopora to me, it is a soft coral with a hard skeleton, you can confirm that if you break it and the inside is bright blue

ive had mine nip at my lps corals, especially if i forget to feed him for a day or so
it will expelled the sand in time, they are found in sand zones, so they are use to having sand blown on them
