I put my carbon in a PM reverse flow substrate reactor and it does great. 24/7 just like Tangster said.
That is where I ordered my Typhoon III and they are always helpful. I would recommend them to anyone. :)
Did you try and get a inverter from Walmart or some place else????

Unless it is some nasty LR then I would leave the skimmer off until about month 6.
Goes double for me. Had a snail come in with one attached to it. Took me two days to get that thing out of the tank.
Might need to stick some LR in with your fish to keep bacteria stable.
Good to see you posting progress again. I hope the counter top guys had to pay for the new one....
I have used it numerous times on tank stuff. I even cook all my LR in it. Rinse and let dry. That is how I cleaned my 265g when I brought it home....

Was you able to add any of the tank water with them?? I would fear there is no bacteria to sustain the fish. Maybe throw some LR in there too.
My last FW tank I had three of these guys in it. As they age they require almost marine quality water and that is what helped me switch over to reef...
You can usually find a 55g for about $30 if you just wait and look for classifieds. If the nano is free then by all means educate yourself off it....
