its not that much the nano's put out very weak and broad flow.
I would get sugar sized sand, it may blow around easier but larger grain sand can start to get coraline algae on them.

the nano isn't very strong(I have one), I would add another powerhead besides it even with the hob filter.
one halide probably won't cover the whole tank, with out knowing the wattage I can't say if you can use it on the 150 or not. get a tang probably...
if by little water you mean 5 inches it will probably be ok. if by little water you mean 5 inches below the rim then no.
your nitrates are kinda high I would do a water change. for calcium depending on your saltmix it could just be what it puts it at.
you can try it but butterflies don't mix well with corals.
I wouldn't worry about it too much if your salinity is stable, it may be grit from rock or waste
the type of tang makes a difference. some tangs like yellows are very hardy, that was actually my first fish ever after cycling.
