I always fed mine with small chunks of raw fish or shrimp. Even reef-safe critters will become opportunistic if they get hungry enough.
Actually, the word is decimate. :) FWIW, the vast majority of corals that they've attacked (that I've heard of) were fleshy or long-tentacled LPS....

Yep, it happens. There are hundreds of hermit species, and the collectors and handlers are not biologists, so if it's tiny and has red or blue...
1) The pads should be cleaned more frequently or removed altogether. What gets trapped is food for something in your tank, and it also still breaks...
Are you sure they're all blue-legs? IMOPE, true blue-leg hermits stay fairly tiny. There are some larger species that are predators too, BTW.
+1 to ^^^ FWIW, A 50% water change should've reduced your nitrates by 50%. Plain and simple. If that's not what happened, then there's a strong...
+2 I've always used carbon, and always will. Unlike a skimmer, carbon removes both organic and inorganic impurities, as well as many toxins, such as...
Typical total photoperiod is 10 hours. How long one runs their "mid day" lighting (in your case, the MH) depends on how many and what wattage bulbs...
Here's an excellent article on lunar tides. One thing I found very interesting: Most reefs are at or near the equator. With a much reduced shift...
Yes, any part of a corallimorph will grow a whole new one.
While the tide does indeed change in nature, the shifts are consistent with the lunar cycle rather than daylight. What most experienced folks will...
Congratulations to the winners! Those were some awesome labels. :)
I've used a glass cover on all my tanks with no problems. They do a great job of reducing evaporation and keeping the SW off the light fixtures, and...
Would not surprise me at all. You also have chaeto which feeds on both nitrates and phosphates, same as gha.
I do believe so. Also, as with most anything else, you get what you pay for with skimmers. Yours appears to be a cheap knock-off of the SeaClone....
+1 Also, FTR, phosphates are not the end result of the nitrogen cycle; they are introduced through tap water, certain processed fish foods, etc.
I've personally only ordered livestock from LiveAquaria, but with excellent results. My orders did include corals and inverts, BTW.
Maroon Clowns are arguably the least particular concerning host anemones, and can be found in most any available species, including the Atlantic...
The only problem I can foresee is that, because of the different types of raw materials in each, you may end up with a high rejection rate which will...
