I would run the skimmer and do 2-3 small WC's. For ex, 10-15gals each day for 2-3 days. The gals all depends on the size of your tank.

Have you checked your parameter? Like Nh3/4 That redish thing could be some kind of bacteria or parasite.
Are you sure its plexi or acrylic? I personaly dont like acrylic, it scratches easily, but it weights less than glass. I prefer all glass.
