well at least with a wet/dry you can convert it down the road.. less crap hanging on the back of tank and more water volume is a plus for me.. but...

are you every going to upgrade to a reef tank with it down the road? if maybe or yes, you'll want at least a wet/dry or sump/refugium setup.....

if some rocks have crap on them. leave them in the old saltwater bin last.. use a toothbrush and scrub the outside of nasty rocks in that old tank...
your tank is 48" so you'll want a 48" T5 fixture.. and I would advise at least 2" gap from bottom of light fixture to top surface of water line.....
PC bulbs need replacing more than any other reef bulb (every 6-8 months). I'd only get a 4 or 6 bulb t5 unit on your tank.. IMHO.. with T5s u can go...

if your only doing fish only saltwater.. you'll probly want PH, Nitrates, Salinity test first.. some companys like API sell saltwater master kit...
