go with either of them. the professinal series is what I would get.. I have a 2x54w older model and havent had any problems, just upgraded bulbs.....
one of your wires going into that end cap is probly slightly pulled out and is shorting. try to wingle or push back in good then test.. GL ::)
I havent had any issues with t5 unit, but pc unit had a loose end cap wire causing me problems before I firgured out it wasnt a bad ballast..just...
depending on daily light cycle time length your good for 12-24 months with t5 bulbs.. if you replace them staggered instead all at once would probly...
what brand of PC bulbs are you using and how old?
look at 4x54w or 6x54w T5's.. I have both 4x65w pcs and t5s.. t5s bulbs last 18-24 months, PCs bulbs last 6-12months... so if you went with PCs 4...
if you do use a brand with cheaper reflectors.. I know there is new UVL t5 V-HO bulbs with internal reflectors built-in the bulb. Ive used the PCs...
I leave my 4 lunars on 24/7.. but they are only .5 watts each..
make sure you hit the studs behind the wall.. or light fixture could fall into the water over time due to weight. I'd use 2" to 3" long screws.....
To drop my KH when it was high.. I had to take kalkwasser powder and water and mix together.. slowly pour this solution into tank every few hours.....

the best PC bulbs i've found are UVL brand w/ internal reflectors.. worth every penny... more light down into tank. they also last 4500hrs.....

I got a reef master test kit from api for cheap.. also got the seperate mag,ph,salinity kits.. protein skimmer will help.. also you could do more...

any pics of the sun? you could raise your lights higher off the tank.. maybe hang from ceiling.. and also upgrade your wall outlet to a 20amp gfi...
