I would look at a skimmer rated low at 150-200% of your tanks capacity. I have done that on my tank. I have 5 small fish.

Sounds like a coral, possibly a species of cup coral.
When you frag it dip it iodine to help in heal and to hopefully kill anything that might harm the chalice.
