    does saltwater go bad?

    Test it for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. If it has ammonia and nitrite chuck it. If the nitrates aren't too high use it.

    Drain size question

    I think it could be good good for about 200gph more if it is in the bottom and the plumbing goes straight down to the sump.

    That should be fine. You should run no more than 10 times your sump's volume through the sump.

    Protecting inside of canopy and stand

    I used gloss white inside mine to maximized any light in the room and any I install in the stand making it easier to see what I was doing inside.

    I would guess it is tempered based on the size. Also think about making holes in the pane of glass that is bearing the most weight.

    Don't know on the brand. 1" is supposed to handle 600gph optimal conditions, 1 1/2" is probably 1200 gph. I'm guessing probably 500gph rating.
