    I take the legs are moved to the very edge of the fixture? You could try a 1x3 at each end cut to the depth of the tank.

    Skimmer for a QT?

    You probably don't want one if you are treating the tank, if you are QTing new arrivals then yes. Get one like you would for the DT 2x the capacity.
