I do not see a slide pipe on that skimmer???
actually by putting new SW in the sump while running the return pump would mix the new with the old and not give you a true old to new water change...
Kind of what I was thinking though is to raise the water level in the skimmer body???
let me restate this...what happens if you raise the sponge higher on the pipe?

I have bever dosed for cyno......what is your nitrate Po should be 0 RO/DI water? Calc is alittle low but thats not the problem do you skim...
