the mag 7 is a great reliable pump
at least 10x for return is the recomended .turn over total that can include all the pumps power heads 10-20x
id go bigger. whats your total tank turn over?

The outside box is located inside the sump
heres the overfolw box im using to get the water from the fuge over to the sump.As the fuge was already put in and i was using dual ret pumps before....

still havent ran out of the 2 part stuff yet but levels are steady and coraline is booming now !

I did that same mod to my overflow worked great.Untill I switched to a dual outlet now it wont fit in the box :(

Yes fletch i had the same prob with a fuge and sump not balacing themselves. i joined the two with an overflow box and have had no problems since.
I choose to let mine settle wherever they want .i think it looks more natural
