Boiling rock is always strongly discouraged. All kinds of nasties can become vaporized, which you would then breath in. Bleach would be safer IMO.

The way the RA works is it controls individual outlet. You can then program it to have it turn on or off outlets during events (water changes,...
Well Coralife says 290 GPH, so you are close. Too slow and the unit will heat up too much though. Check the manual to see what the minimum flow rate...
Awesome, basically exactly what I was thinking, but nice to hear from someone else! I guess the fixture is around $700 (cheapest I could find a new...
Yup. Sad thing is, if I do upgrade to a 125, it will only replace the 55! The 10 is just a HT, and will come down once it is not needed. The 40 in...
Here is how I accomplish this: I feed my DI line directly into a small Rubbermaid container (1/2 gallon) controlled with a float switch. Use the...
I have tried this method of not moving the fish, and it has only ended poorly. I recently had a Flasher Wrasse looking like a snowball. He ate very...
I have a Reef Angel as mentioned, so I can't comment on the Apex. I do know the RA works right out of the box as an ATO. Just set your floats, setup...
How about a controller? I use my Reef Angel for ATO and have been very happy with it for a year now. Otherwise I also use (2) Autotopoff.com kits...
Well seeing as we right now have a 55 gal in our foyer, 28 in our living room, 8 in our kitchen, 10 in the spare bedroom, 46 in our bedroom, and 40...
You guys are too funny! I am going to look at the first 125 this week. If it is not in good shape I will definitely keep looking. We are planning to...
Indeed. There is a 180 tank, stand and canopy somewhat local, but for $1400, so over $1000 more for 6" :/
I am considering a 180 as well; just depends on where the wife let's me put the upgrade. 180 would fit in one spot, 125 in either ;) Either way I...
I am definitely leaning towards the 125 with dual overflows. The only reason to go for the other setup would be it comes with LR and sand. However...
Yes, as long as it is only a few spots. If it becomes covered, report back!
If you have an ATO, evap is great to keep a tank cool as mentioned. But you are right, without it, you want to avoid it as much as possible.
I have a JBJ 28 and have two 425 nano's too supplement the stock pumps. I have LPS and SPS, and all are doing great :)
Nice shots, especially the middle one :)
Beautiful LF, congrats!
