My AC70 agitates the water well but since its such a small tank I don't skim. If for some reason I get film on top of the water I lay a paper towel...

Looks like the pics I've seen of fire worms as opposed to bristle worms. Maybe some sort of scale worm? Is it scaly?

Sounds like its probably just proteins from the livestock in the tank. I don't have experience with snow so ? On that one.
Just my opinion, what it it hurting? It provides great surface yucks for pods and other critters and again, IMO it looks better overall.
I wouldn't worry about a dead snail really. Even in my 5g I let my CUC have at it...
