i really dont think theres any need to "feed" it. it will process food through your water.
have you had any spikes in the ammonia,nitrite and nitrates? if not, you prob havent even really begun to cycle.

55-75 lbs would be m yguesstimate, ive got about 110 lbs in my 90 now. and will be adding another 10 or so slowly soon.
