I have had the same problem. Ocean Nutrition also make the same stuff without the Gel binder in it. I use their Prime Reef without the gel binder.
+1 to that! I take a small measuring cup and put a little tank water in. i then let the flake/pellets soak for a few mins then dump it in. Works...

When I called the LFS where it was purchsed from they tried to tell me that it was a clove polyp. LOL Kinda similar I guess.

+1 ^ You need to wait til you see a spike in ammonia. After the spike wait until ammonia and nitrite return to zero before adding and livestock.

Sounds like coralline algae to me. this is actually a desired algae by most salt water and reef aquarists. Congrats....any pics?
