    I would test my water before dosing to see how much I need to dose. You also want to dose on actual water volume and not the size of you system....

    Who is "they". I have never heard any instructions recommend adding a live fish to introduce ammonia. There are better ways to start a cycle....

    I have to respectfully strongly disagree with this method. You should never cycle with live animals. I wouldn't even add a CuC until a tank is cycled.

    Raw shrimp is what most people say to do. I don't know if it is right or wrong, but a lot people also pull it out once it starts to decompose.

    What type of light do you need for this coral?

    I have several mushrooms under T5 lighting and they are splitting on their own. I don't know about leathers, but I think you would be fine with T5's...

    I have two thoughts: 1. Faulty readings 2. You are in the middle of your cycle, which you are. A cycle can take 4 -8 weeks. Some are faster...

    Yes and no to this. This is all dependent on what size system you have. If you have enough LR to handle the new bio load, you won't see a cycle....

    If he has nitrites already though, he wouldn't need an ammonia source. You could use some Microbacter7 or Dr. Tim's product to help cycle though.

    Salifert makes a good test kit. I have used API and Red Sea as well. I hear Hanna Checker's are the best though. I have never used one though.
