    They are great to have! You can use it to remove things, take water samples and blast detritus off rocks.

    Since you don't have anything in there for the algae to smother you could just let it grow. If you let it grow and suck it out with a turkey baster...

    That sounds like a good alternative to kalk or calc reactors. I think I've seen set ups with 2 part dripped through pumps.

    You probably need a heavy hammer like a 4# or 10# sledge. A light hammer will just beat up the surface.
