    IMO i would upgrade your lighting to atleast a 2 bulb t5, but leaving your T8 running atleast 12hrs a day is perfect

    How long in vinegar.

    the vinegar should soften everything up including any coraline that is on the PH. Soaking for 30-1hr should be good I leave mine over night

    IMO the best way to low nitrates just like Mr. Bill said is keep stiring things up and do water 10 - 18gal water changes every other day for 2 weeks...
