    I wouldn't paint anything going into the tank. If you did, epoxy paint is probably the safest, but also tough to find as it is pretty dangerous...

    Usually with a MH, 6 hours or so is sufficient if you have actinics, it doesn't necessarily hurt to have more, but could depending on your corals....
