    why all the baffles in the sumps? seems like they are too high if the grey is where you want the water level in your sump to be, maybe 5" of water?

    refugium benefits?

    a refugium is basically a small tank to SLOWLY pass your display tank water through, usually with some cheato, etc to consume nitrates in your water.

    1. If you scrape it, it will spread and grow more (kinda like shaving, lol). Your Alk, Ca, and Mag levels must be high enough to support it though....

    Yes, it's likely the liverock you added had some die-off, which caused your tank to cycle (rotting dead stuff -> ammonia-> nitrite -> nitrate) again....
