    red montipora placement on a stand

    Angeled or perpendicular to the rock is fine. Placement perpendicular allows greater lighting to the surface area of the coral.

    No not bad, it's a fairly common occurrence. Just keep an eye on the coral, as sometimes it's the loss of zooxanthellae.
