They didn't look like any of the corals usually referred to as polyps to me. Reminded me of goniopora right away though.

I wouldn't worry about the fin repair formulas. It will recover if it starts eating. Hiding for a few days is not unusual for fish when they change...
If you have corals yes raise it to 7 to 10 dKH range. You should be able to find an alkalinity supplement at your LFS.
