    i let my skimmer run during the cycle and my cycle took 6 weeks, note the skimmer was turned off at night so i could sleep.

    i would not worry 2 much about apitasia, they can indeed boom if your parameters are right but seeing you are cycling your tank they wont reproduce...

    how to set up live rock to promote flow trhoughout tank

    as far as i know there is no right or wrong way of doing things, one good rule is make sure not to compromise structure stability for flow promotion.
