    It looks like green coraline to me. Not all red algae is bad night-rida. Red coraline is as good as any other color coraline.

    I don't think that is the species he has. I think it looks more like a Actaeodes tomentosus. Definitely a Xanthid though and not reef safe.

    Any of the gonodactylus or neogonodactylus species will be fine in a 8 gal. Gonodactylus Smithii would be the best, but very rare.
