    How deep of sand in refugium

    I don't have substrate in my fuge. Bare bottom with some rubble. Works well. If you chose to add more sand it should not harm the cycle.

    Bulkhead/Fuge issue

    I do 48hrs just in case when I use silicone. Maybe the threads are stripped and not creating a good tight seal. The silicone should work.

    I purchased that light because it is a par30 12watt LED bulb. Doesn't heat up the water and lasts 50,000 Hours. Honestly, it might be worth a shot...
