    Baffles are the most common way to keep microbubbles out of the DT. You have to be sure you have the skimmer working correctly also. Foam/mesh...

    When I used a sock/bag, (I use a mesh bag now), Mine was usually at least 3/4 underwater also.- still works ** YOu have to be careful here!!...

    Non drilled tank alternatives- My DIY overflow...

    Simply put, what he said. You always want more potential flow from your return to the sump, than to your tank, so yhou don't get an overflowed tank.
