    If its already set up you should go with the goby. Would be a waste of money to not put something in it after its been set up.

    I use duct tape. Actually, I super glue frags down. Even shrooms that aren't on rocks. Just takes patience.

    What you are describing sounds like golden algae. This can easily deplete you O2 levels and is the cause of many fish kills in freshwater habitats....
