    I beleive the only name for it is sand sifting star. I just threw mine in and let it go at it. I rarely see it. I do notice my sand stays cleaner...

    There is a specific sand sifting star that is great. Iv had one for 6 months and it doesnt bother anything. Rarely even gets on the rocks.
