    Is carbonate hardness and alkalinity the same thing? From what Iv read online sounds like they are. Just wanted to double check before I assume that.

    That will depend on flow, ambient temp and starting temp of your water. It shouldnt be more than a day though. Just watch for your temp to go up then...
