    That should be fine as long as you dont have any fish in there. Should help your cycle to go faster. Maybe even just a mini cycle.

    Thinking about starting a 3 gallon

    Thats the way to go. Just scoop some water often from your larger more stable system and all should be good.

    Welcome to 3reef. When you were looking at lions did you look into dwarf lions. A dwarf would be great in a 40 gallon reef.

    Havnt got one yet. The more I hear about this the more having my tank drilled sounds better. All it has is water and a couple of rocks in it anyway.
