Welcome to 3Reef, Garebel. Appropriate smiley!:laughing0
I know what you mean about the rats, Inimicus. My kids have 2 hedgehogs that run in their squeeky wheels all night. Mmmm....hedgehog-burgers!...
No, not at all. Spelling is my personal daemon. I previously spelled his name incorrectly when I posted pictures of him last year.
American Cheese, or Swiss Cheese? I discovered Blue Cheese burgers! Mmmm-Mmmm!
Take it slow, TinFury. Remenber, each creature you add will be adding his waste (ammonia) to the tank. Your small colonies of bacteria will change...
I don't know how he did it, but 2 weeks ago Jaques, my large Banded Coral Shrimp, pulled off his right claw-arm. It looks like he got it caught in...
Tangster, An excellent, specific example. Personal experiences, recounted and detailed, are the reason that I come here. Thanks!
I think this is a very good question. But, I haven't seen any specific data to back up anyone's arguments either pro or con. The post by Geekdafied...
You do have a beautiful tank, Apollo'sowner. It makes for a strong argument for using RO/DI water (and not overfeeding!).
I think that tank is going to look great! Besides the eel (what kind?) what other creatures to you plan on getting?
I agree with Coral Reefer. From your pics, it looks like a mithrax crab (Genus Mithraculus). Note the flat tips on the end of the claws -- like...
Thanks, Aquagirl! Karma to you! When I was using Wal-Mart bottled water, I had the same thought as you and tested it.But, it only had readings of...
LRS = LFS ? That's pretty cool looking. Is it a type of mushroom coral? What is it called?
1. Don't overfeed your tank. 2. Regularly check your nitrate levels. If ammonia and nitrite are zero, but nitrates are above 20ppm, do a water...
Got a scare this morning: It looked like my arrow crab was eating my banded coral shrimp. Luckily, it turned out to be the shrimp's molted...
Really excellent photos, JustPhish. It really shows off your healthy, beautiful tank.
However, my large Banded Coral Shrimp recently lost a claw. I took the claw out, since it would have the muscle tissue inside.
I agree with JustPhish. The carapace has little protein on it, so it doesn't break down into ammonia and other nitrogen compounds to foul your tank....
IMHO, you should continue to do regular, moderate water changes -- 10%-20% each week. It's especially important if your nitrates are climbing.
Inimicus, You're half a gallon shy of 420 gallons. With rocks, sand, stands figured in, you're easily at 2 TONS of aquariums. Like Amcarrig said, I...
